Sometimes life is not always easy, and everything we planned on and dreamed of, changes. On August 17, a very dear friend of mine had her first child. He was a healthy, beautiful baby boy and as you can imagine the parents beamed over their new bundle of joy. Things quickly took a turn for the worse and their perfect little world quickly crumbled. Seventeen hours after baby Tyson's birth, during a routine exam, he started to turn blue. The doctors decided he needed to be taken to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital for further examination. There, at Vanderbilt, under the care of many of the best children doctors and surgeons, he was diagnosed with Shone's Complex - meaning this sweet little baby would have to undergo several open heart surgeries until the age of 2. Tyson is now 3 weeks old and has already had several surgeries. He has already had many complications in his short little life, but Tyson has fought every step of the way. My heart breaks for my close friends and all they are going through.
